Prospective project estimators should have an aptitude for mathematics as well as keen analytical skills. Candidate must be able to manage the high stress of tight deadlines and the major responsibility of accurately forecasting the budget for a project.
RESPONSIBILITIES: •Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents •Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents •Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements •Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information, writing clarifications and RFI’s, and effective communication with the sales team •Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information •Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data •Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, etc. •Generates pricing and Bills of Materials according to deadlines •Configures rigging systems based on provided information •Configures lighting systems based on provided information •Calculates pricing based on interpretation of drawings and equipment lists •Prepares quotation documents •Provides support to sales team •Regularly reviews reports with sales team to provide effective analytics •Answers internal Project Management team inquiries regarding system layout •Answers internal inquiries from Field Services team about pricing on customer replacement parts •Generates requests for information (RFI’s) in a timely and professional manner •Complete additional tasks as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: •Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent applicable experience •2-4 years previous job-related experience •Technical background from the theatrical lighting and/or rigging industry •Good interpersonal and communication skills •Extensive theatrical lighting experience •Computer networking knowledge •Working knowledge of theatrical lighting and/or stage machinery/rigging systems •Able to work quickly and accurately •Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task •Excellent customer service skills •Excellent written and verbal communication skills •Excellent MS Office skills •Demonstrated ability to work independently and perform multiple tasks without general supervision
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: •Quotations/Inside sales or Project Management Experience for a theatrical dealer, electrical distributor, manufacturer’s representative firm or lighting/rigging manufacturer •System Layout Experience for rigging and/or lighting related design firm •Theatrical lighting systems design experience an advantage
