The Estimator / Technical Analyst works in the Project Management department and is responsible for preparing estimates.
Key Responsibilities • Prepare budgets and detailed proposals for scenic construction. • Deliver recommendations on cost saving initiatives within the pricing and bidding components of Hudson’s business model. Provide CEO and Senior Management with ongoing feedback and analysis on increasing cost efficiency of estimation price points. • Review potential projects with Project Management team identifying construction challenges and potential areas of concern; Provide written and oral summaries to PMs. • Detail materials and methods for construction for pricing. • Research vendors and analyzing historical data to prepare time, material, and labor cost estimates. • Consult with other Hudson departments including Engineering, Scenic Artists, Automation, Set Electrics, Production Management, etc. • Obtain quotes for estimates and consult with vendors regarding manufacturability and potential alternates. • Maintain project records, gather and review historical and live project data to aid in future estimation. • Assist in finding creative solutions and new building techniques to meet budget, schedule, design, and technical requirements of client.
Qualifications • Minimum of 3+ years in commercial theatre or entertainment industry construction & estimating. • Strong understanding of scenic construction and automation. • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, and strong AutoCAD skills. o Ability to navigate Inventor models a plus. • Knowledge of advanced automated tooling, such as CNC Lathes, Routers and Mills. • Experience working with collective bargaining agreements and/or union contracts o Experience with IATSE and/or USA829 contracts for stagehand and artists a plus. • Ability to effectively prioritize, execute, and problem solve in a high-pressure environment and work efficiently within given time constraints. • Ability to communicate ideas clearly. • Self-motivated; team oriented and highly collaborative work style.
